Our Ruby Girl
At Our Ruby Girl, we wholeheartedly believe that we need to leave a better world for the generations to come, which is why we have built everything we do around ethical and sustainable practices, both in our food, our coffee and our people.
Our Ruby Girl operates as a zero waste cafe. This means no single use plastics or take away containers, a kitchen garden and yep… a surcharge for take away coffee cups.
We have a strong focus on recycling and are a drop off point for plastic lids, soft plastics and bread tags (Aussie Bread Tags For Wheelchairs) and have a brand new recycling facility accepting everything from old make-up to dried out textas, batteries, soft plastics and just about anything else you can think of.
We accept our disposable cups back for commercial recycling through the Recycle Me program and have a commercial composting system which incorporates both our kitchen by-products and customer waste as well. In fact, the whole cafe operation only generates 1 household rubbish bin full of rubbish a week!
Whilst we are pretty happy with our sustainability efforts, we are most proud of the work we do as an Equal Opportunity Employer. We hire a range of staff with disability, and take on two high-school aged work experience students with disability per term. Making a difference in the lives of so many of of our staff is a true joy.
You’ll find our providore shelves stocked with everything you need to take a little bit of Ruby Girl home with you, including books, plants, homewares, jewellery, locally made art and a little bit of whatever we are in love with right now.
So, whether you’re after a lazy breakfast, lunch with friends or some peace and quiet with a coffee, Our Ruby Girl waits to greet you.
